Sir Paul McCartney, one of the last surviving member of The Beatles, permitted local indie rock music act PAS Band to sing a cover of The Beatles’ “Yesterday” prior to the country’s biggest rock music festival, Java Rockin Land.
“When Paul McCartney listen our cover of ‘Yesterday’, he instantly gave his permission. The reason is because he simply liked it,” PAS Band vocalist Yukie was quoted as saying Friday by news portal tribunnews.com.
He said that apart from PAS Band, another local musician had also sought permission to cover the song, but that her request was turned down.
“Her rendition was beautiful, the harmonization and the melody were lovely, but [McCartney] rejected it,” Yukie said.
PAS Band sent McCartney their demo three weeks ago. (rpt)
